SETAC, Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ Community Center, recently welcome a new staff member, clinical psychologist Ismael Rossi, who graduated from the National University in Rosario, Argentina, and who relocated to Puerto Vallarta three months ago, along with his husband, Nicolas.

“We were both faculty members in Argentina,” he commented. “We decided to vacation in Puerto Vallarta last year and instantly fell in love with Mexico and its people, so we decided to relocate here and make Puerto Vallarta our new home.”

Rossi has had experience with LGBTQ organizations in Argentina for many years. He also collaborated with an organization dedicated to provide emergency telephone assistance in cases of domestic violence. After graduating from university, he collaborated with several AIDS-related organizations in counseling and detection, along with his private clinical psychology practice.

In SETAC, he will be in charge of offering counseling and also in the screening process required to implement the new PrEP pilot program presently being deployed in the Community Center.
“I am eager to listen to any person without prejudice because my schooling had no prejudices,” he remarked.

Rossi will also be in charge of organizing and strengthening SETAC’s volunteer program. In addition, a personal interest in audiovisual production will allow him to collaborate in communication-related projects.

SETAC has a Community Center located at Aldanaca 178, 4A&B (at the corner with Viena) in Colonia Versalles, where you can schedule an appointment for an HIV or syphilis test. SETAC also offers sexual health-related counseling services, along with a variety of cultural and recreational activities to strengthen the local LGBTQ community.
